NERP will have a special presentation on Monday.
Ste* will introduce us to the basics of designing electronic filters in the analog (non-digital) realm. Some of the basic concepts we’ll learn include transfer functions, Bode plots, poles & zeros, impulse & step responses, lowpass vs highpass, bandpass vs bandstop, and ideal vs practical filters. We’ll go over a few example designs including LC-ladder passive filters and active filters using opamps. Some basic algebra skillz and minimal familiarity with electronics is recommended (but not required).
Ste Kulov is an owner and design engineer at HD Retrovision LLC,which specializes in interfacing legacy analog video to modern displays. He is a SPICE simulation & electronic circuit modeling enthusiast.
P.S. I’ll chance the wall-o-text syndrome to point out that this presentation is about REAL electronics. Hooking together modules from Ali-Express to make a drone controller is very nice, but there’s little “electronics” in that workflow. If you want to know what it really looks like to “do electronics”, come hear Ste’s talk. He’s an excellent presenter.
Doors open at 7, and the presentation begins at 7:20pm. Please use your quiet voice to allow others to focus on the talk. The presentation will be video recorded, so there will be cameras in the room.
