Whether it’s a family heirloom that sewed your grandmother’s baby clothes or something you rescued from the side of the road; whether you just need to know how to thread it or you need help identifying why it won’t run. Bring your machine - or even just your questions - and the odds that someone will be able to at least point you in the right direction are very good.
Last month someone brought in a treadle (foot powered) machine that they had saved from disposal and were working to restore. In addition to being a beautiful antique and a fascinating story this century-old machine provided an opportunity to discuss Japanning, the technique that had been used to decorate it.
